Step One
Introduction
Most of our projects begin with a short email or phone call. Some of the questions we may ask include - Where is your project located ? When would you like to have your project complete? Are you working with an Architect, Builder and or designer? Do you have a design or would you like us to work up a concept for you? What would you like to spend? *
Step Two
Concept 1.0
With a general outline of your project and a target guesstimate, we’ll get to work generating a concept for you. Our concepts can be as simple as a rough sketch or as advanced as a 3D model depending on the size and scope of the project. The cool thing about our design process is that it is iterative. We’ll work with you and incorporate your feedback into our design until we develop a concept that you love.
Step Three
Proposal
Once we’ve arrived on a concept we’ll furnish a detailed proposal describing the work we’ll do and scope of the project. Included in this proposal will be the finishes, materials, timelines, and terms of payment.
Step Four
Deposit
At the time of deposit we’ll begin turning your concept drawings into formal shop drawings for your approval. We’ll also furnish finish samples so you can see exactly what your finished piece will look like. Our goal is to have the space between your expectations and our finished product paper thin. We wont start fabrication until our shop drawings are approved. This is also a great time to really hone in on the details
Step Five
Fabrication
Once the metal hits the table is where the real fun begins. This is why we do what we do. It’s an exciting time and we want you to be a part of it. If you like, we’ll be happy to entertain shop visits and or provide progress photos and videos throughout the process. Feel free to use these in your social media or just keep them as a record of your commission. We believe we are creating heirloom quality metalwork and the story of who made it and how they made it is all part of that narrative.
Step Six
Installation
Our metalwork will be built to our shop drawings and thus can be installed by any qualified professional. That being said we also offer installation. In many cases it’s the makers themselves who are doing the install and are thus intimately acquainted with the details of a project. Our installers are professional and polite. They are highly trained craftsmen whom we are proud to put on any job site.
*this can be a difficult question to answer. In many cases our clients have no idea what custom metalwork costs. Don’t worry - we’re here to help. We are happy to provide a ball park estimate for the project to see if our services fit within the financial constraints your project.
