PAPA Championship Trophies
We were asked this summer to make the trophies for the 12th Annual Professional and Amateur Pinball Association (PAPA) Championship, which were held in Carnegie on August 13th-16th. We made a first-place trophy for each of the seven levels of competitive play. Red Star’s final design incorporated our style of contemporary ironwork with the flowing lines of a pinball machines many ramps and chutes to create unique sculptural trophies.
Here is the World Champion trophy. It stands almost eight feet high. This was the largest of the trophies with the others gradually getting smaller. The smallest among them was about 5 feet high.

Here is the 2009 World Champion Keith Elwin with his prize. The two pinball machines he is standing in front of were custom machines designed by local Pittsburgh artists Mike Budai and Brian Holderman.

Another shot of the trophies as the crowd watches the final rounds of the tournament. At this point several of the smaller trophies had already been awarded.
