Modern Furniture

A couple years back we built the above table for a client. She was looking for something modern and stylish that could also stand alone as an artistic piece. The design takes inspiration from the flowing curves of Art Nouveau and updates it with more modern elements like those found in urban graffit art. Melding these styles created the unique design pictured above. The design proved to be so unique that the client returned to us a year later saying she had been unable to find chairs that suitably complemented the table. At that time she commissioned us to build a set of chairs and a side table.
This project has recently hit the shop. The chairs are still in their infancy, but the side table is almost completely fabricated.
Here is the design for the side table as initially proposed:

Here is the actual table as its fabrication nears completion:

As you may notice, there are significant differences between the initial design and the actual table. After some contemplation, we felt the initial design seemed more of a copy of the original table than we desired. We wanted a design that would compliment rather than simply copy the original table. The final design incorporates similar elements but uses them to create one continuous piece rather than two separate end pieces holding up the glass shelves.

We’ll keep you updated as this table is completed and as the tables move along in their production.
