Little Giant Awakens!!
In 2005, Red Star received a call from a university in Ohio. They had this thing called a “Little Giant” of which they knew very little about, but knew that it was used by blacksmiths. Somehow they came upon Red Star’s information and called us to offer us this piece of machinery. Realizing we had a bargain on our hands, Red Star drove to Ohio in our old pickup, paid $250, drove off, in the process nearly destroying the rear-end of the truck.

The Little Giant was a brand of power hammer that began production in 1895. These power hammers were manufactured for 99 years. Although they are no longer manufactured, in 1991 the company was sold and the current owners maintain the business, offering repair parts and service.
Our little giant spent a couple years unused and generally untouched. However in the past year or so we’ve had the opportunity to work on it and recently put on the new drive belt which was the final piece of the puzzle. Now it is finally up and running.
